Its That Time MLB SPRING TRAINING Is Here
Not only is March known for it's beautiful weather and temperatures here in the valley, but it is also known for MLB Spring Training. This is the time of year when the locals try to cut out of work early and "work from the ballpark" and the visitors flee the snow for sunshine and shorts all in the name of America's Pastime: baseball. Although the Cactus League is comprised of teams mostly west of the Mississippi, there is a team for just about everyone. The fifteen teams that travel here for training are spread out across the valley. In the east valley, staying in Central Scottsdale or near ASU easily puts you only a short drive from all five stadiums. In the west valley, the stadiums are a bit more spread out and it may be more convenient to stay close to the team you want to see.
Pitchers and Catchers all report this week and the rest of the players all report by February 25th to start practices. Games officially start March 1 and there is a game every day at one stadium or another through April 2, 2016. One of the great advantages to having professional teams train here for a month, is that access to tickets at lower prices than in their home stadiums. Tickets do sell out, especially for teams coming off a great season or World Series win (hint: the Royals may sell out) or a match-up between rivals, but typically there is always a seat available. Some of the most popular and affordable seats are the lawn seats at each stadium. You get to sit out behind the outfield, spread out on a blanket and let the kids have some room to play while enjoying the game. What are you waiting for?! Grab your co-workers and get to the ball park!
Drink a lot of water!
Bring a hat and light layers to protect from the sun
And if you're a die hard fan from out of state...you might want to consider having your own place close to a stadium and in the heart of all the action.
